MANITOBANS FOR THE ARTS WELCOMES NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Manitobans for the Arts welcomes Oyíndàmólá Áláká as its new General Manager, effective May 1, 2022. Oyíndàmólá is a proud Manitoban who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her previous roles in arts and culture, government relations, business development, and community leadership. Oyíndàmólá’s background in community engagement, advocacy, and public relations will serve well in propelling Manitobans for the Arts’ priorities. These priorities include:

  • Ensuring the arts community is strong, agile, resilient, equitable, and relevant.

  • Igniting Manitobans to connect meaningfully with art forms and arts experiences.

  • Encouraging increased investment in the arts sector.

Through her community involvement, Oyíndàmólá has received multiple awards: Black History Manitoba Youth Achievement Award, Black History Manitoba (2020) and Sybil Shack Youth Award, Manitoba Human Right Commission (2019). Oyíndàmólá holds a B.A.(Adv.) in Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of Manitoba.
